Mike MacDonald and Stephanie K., aka “Mike & Stephanie in the Morning” on Flint’s CK 105.5 recently celebrated ten years together rockin’ Flint area radio listeners on their morning commutes. My City asked the dynamic duo to share a few of their “Flint Faves.”

WHEN YOU BRING VISITORS TO FLINT, WHERE DO YOU TAKE THEM TO EAT?
SK: Flint has many outstanding restaurants, but Margie at Cork is an awesome chef and anything she prepares is spectacular.
MM: We go to Sagano Japanese Bistro and I can recommend everything on the menu! Oh, and I love Flint Crepe Company and Café Rhema – try the bubble tea!

WHERE DO YOU SEE LOTS OF FRIENDLY FACES?
SK: I LOVE seeing the happy faces Downtown at Art Walk every second Friday. It’s so much fun to join a group of awesome friends and walk from one gallery to another, enjoying the live music, entertainment, art and treats.
MM: There are lots of friendly faces anywhere you find Mike & Stephanie!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FLINT EVENT & WHY?
SK: I mentioned how much I love the Art Walks, and we also have a pretty cool Art Fair, but some of my favorite Flint events are the ones I get to host: Pink Night in October and other fundraisers that do so much good for the area.
MM: Back to the Bricks is my favorite because it celebrates the history and the heritage of this city.

IF SOMEONE ASKS, WHAT DO YOU SAY IS THE BEST THING ABOUT FLINT?
SK: After last winter, I joke that because it’s so cold here, we stay closer to our friends for warmth! I have many friends who lived here and then moved to Chicago, New York, California, etc. and they all say the same thing: although they make friends in new cities, their true, deep friendships are here in Flint. We can all be proud of the fact that there are tremendous people here. I’m so grateful for my incredible Flint friends.
MM: The tenacity of a city that continually rises above adversity, the uniqueness of communities like the College Cultural area, and the generosity of the people who live here.?

WHEN YOU HAVE OUT-OF-TOWN GUESTS, WHAT’S ON YOUR “MUST-DO” LIST?
SK: Checking out the exhibits at The FIA is free on Saturdays thanks to generous donors, so that’s a “must-do.” We might go to the Planetarium or Sloan Museum, too. The new Flint Farmers’ Market is also spectacular and free to explore!

WHAT WOULD YOU CONSIDER A HIDDEN GEM IN FLINT?
MM: Bishop international airport! talk about hassle-free convenience and comfort. my wife and i always fly out of Bishop!
